Here at Tay Valley Vets, our pain clinic is lead by Lindsay Galloway, who holds the General Practitioner Certificate in Western Veterinary Acupuncture and Chronic Pain Management.

We gather a comprehensive overview to assess the extent of the patient’s suffering. Initial consultation starts with a review of the patient’s clinical history and an evaluation of any behavioural changes. This is followed by a clinical examination.

Chronic pain assessments. This includes a ninety minute consultation which allows time to take a full history of the patient’s pain and other medical issues, clinical examination and discussion of any changes in mobility, behaviour or enjoyment of life, and then a written report and plan will be sent out to the client, and a report sent to the referring vet too. This will usually include advice about analgesia, bodyweight, comfort at home and in the car, further diagnostic tests or imaging, disease management and exercise.

Behaviour assessments. This includes a two hour consultation to allow for full discussion of patient history and current issues, physical examination and then discussion of safety and management issues. We will address any clinical issues that arise and often implement behavioural therapy at that time. Clients receive twelve weeks of follow up support, usually by email, so long as they stay in touch as requested. Clients and  referring vets both receive a written report after the consultation.
